Through a wide range of programmes, Teit offers a culturally responsive curriculum education that includes maths, English, basic coding, arts, and Amharic.
Teit Ethiopian Supplementary School nurtures a strong sense of identity, pride, and cultural belonging through its teaching and activities. Specialist community arts practitioners lead workshops in spoken word, drama, poetry, and music. Young K&C supported Teit Ethiopian Supplementary School’s journey of growth and development. Through 1:1 support with charity registration, policy frameworks, and through grant funding, Young K&C has helped Teit to secure its future.
Training and networking opportunities have strengthened staff capacity, while direct grant funding has enabled Teit to expand its reach and enrich its programmes.
Teit Ethiopian Supplementary School has transitioned from a grassroots group into a sustainable organisation with the systems, recognition and partnerships to deepen its impact. The result is a trusted community organisation that strengthens academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and cultural identity for children and young people.
Young K&C has been supporting children and young people in Kensington and Chelsea, and children of Teit have hugely benefited from that. Support from Young K&C has allowed us to scale up our work, to reach more young people, and for our young people to feel valued—who would have otherwise been unobserved.
